The Portuguese Institute for Quality (IPQ), in partnership with the National Anti-Corruption Mechanism (MENAC), successfully held the webinar ‘Controlling and Preventing Corruption in Organisations’ on 2 December 2025. The initiative stood out for the relevance of the topic, recognised as a central concern in Portuguese society, reflected in public debates and opinion polls, and brought together almost 1,000 participants.
During the event, corruption was framed as a phenomenon that undermines trust in institutions, compromises democratic regimes and affects free societies, with political, social, and economic impacts. Distortions in competition, the weakening of justice, damage to human rights, and the fight against poverty were addressed, promoting a profound reflection on organisational risks.
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the NP ISO 37001:2025 standard ‘Anti-bribery management systems - Requirements and guidance for use’, which guides the planning, implementation and maintenance of management and control systems for corruption risks. This standard was translated and adapted for Portugal by Technical Committee 213, which is secretaried by QUALISEG.
It is important to note that all organisations with more than 50 employees must implement an Anti-Corruption Management System (SGAC), whose operational plan must be submitted to the regulatory authority. For more information, please contact us; we will be happy to inform and support your organisation in the implementation of the SGAC and possible certification by the NP ISO 37001 standard.
